Ok, so I haven’t been updating this Blog as much as I should be. I’m sorry! To all my fans, I am sorry, even if it’s to my only true fan (my mother) - I’m joking, she hates my skating. Apparently it’s what you do when your 12 years old……..

Anyways, I made this edit for an example of the new Steadicam Film Contest that we’re running here at Action Cameras.

If you haven’t checked it out, and you’re getting a sweet new camera from Santa, have a look here; you still have time to apply!

As for this edit, I used a Steadicam Smoothee with a GoPro HD Hero 2 and my Drift HD.

I've acquired a Steadicam during my time at Action Cameras – all be it a very simple kind of ‘sample’ model - but free is free, right?! I used the Steadicam with the Drift HD as it has a ¼” thread and the Drift has this built-in as standard (no need for a tripod adaptor).

As you might know by now, I’m not a filmmaker or editor. But I like what I do because it makes me feel good, and what’s better than sharing that…? If you don’t like rollerblading or what I do, that’s fine, just try and see the possibilities that come along when you start using a Steadicam for rolling shots. 

Therefore, please ignore my sometimes shaky filming (mine is actually ok, it's my friends that are useless) and think if a Steadicam would suit your adventure or professional film-making. Look out for any rolling shots and the stuff at the end for best examples!

Can I use the Steadicam Smoothee with any GoPro camera?
Yes. The Smoothee is suited to any version of GoPro camera, either on it's own or with a BacPac accessory attached. The HERO 3 Camera will need a slight adjustment to the Steadicam itself, but this involves simply changing the balance by twisting the knobs slightly to counter the HERO 3's slight reduction in weight. 

Can I use the Smoothee with a BacPac accessory attached?
Yes. As above, the Steadicam Smoothee is absolutely suited to GoPro BacPac accessories. 

Will the Steadicam Smoothee work with all versions of iPhone?
Yes. However, you will need to purchase the appropriate mount separately. Included in this package is the mount suitable for the iPhone 4 and 4S. 

Will the Steadicam Smoothee work with other Smartphones?
Yes. However, you will need to purchase the appropriate mount to suit your phone - alternatively modify an iPhone mount to suit your needs. 

Is it easy to operate?
The Steadicam Smoothee is very easy to operate. You can mount your camera, pick it up and start filming straight out of the box. 

Does it really work? 
Yes! It really does keep your camera perfectly balanced. You may need to make slight adjustments to the balance, which is built into the frame itself, but this a simple process.
