I bought this plastic lens before the glass version was available. It does the job of correcting soft-focus underwater but the plastic is not of a high quality, it's not very clear and has tiny bubbles in it. It also scratches very easily. You will also find that it causes quite severe vignetting in 720 mode.

If you really don't want to fork-out for a Blur-Fix lens (which I would personally recommend), then I suggest buying the glass version of this lens, but I really wouldn't recommend this plastic one. Bear in mind though that you will still get the vignetting with the glass version.

Overview

GoForFocus' idea is very simple: the light needs to go from the water into a flat lens instead of a curved one. So this glass lens will replace the original dome lens of the Hero HD. It only takes a few minutes to unscrew the dome lens and replace it with this lens.

Technical
