So you’ve decided a GoPro HD Hero2 is the camera for you, and who can blame you? 1080p, 11 megapixel stills, WiFi capability and a host of mounts and accessories.

The final hurdle is deciding which GoPro bundle best compliments your ambitions, whether you’re a downhill rider, racing driver or simply a casual user of this hugely popular hand-held camera.

As you may have seen or heard, the HD Hero2 comes in a variety of packs, but first things first, it’s important to highlight what comes as standard.

The camera in all the Hero2 bundles is exactly the same. Same wide-angle lens, same time-lapse and photo-burst mode, same Full HD.

As well as the camera, the GoPro Waterproof Housing (up to 60 metres) also comes as standard, as do the necessary cables and battery.

The differences lie in the mounting options and accessories that come within each bundle.

GoPro don’t offer the Hero2 camera individually, instead offering you a choice of 3 core packs: the GoPro HD Hero2 Outdoor Edition, Motorsports Edition, and Surf Edition. Action Cameras also offer some tasty variations on these standard bundles, but we’ll get to that later…

Outdoor Edition

First up we have the GoPro HD Hero2 Outdoor Edition, offering versatility in its mounting options for whatever activities you pursue.

For keen cyclists, the Vented Helmet Mount is perfect for securing your GoPro on long rides; whether shooting a dangerous downhill tear-up, a casual country bike ride, or commuting through the city streets.

Also included is the GoPro Head Strap, perfect for the helmet cam when a helmet isn’t required! You can really get creative with this mount, and it is perfect for a true point of view perspective.

Great for action sports like skating, surfing and skiing, yet extremely appealing when you’re winding back the adrenaline. For example, the Head Strap offers a great hands free camcorder for sightseeing, such as on a safari, city-break or family holiday; documenting your adventures, whatever they may be, from a truly first person perspective in crisp, vibrant 1080p.

The GoPro Three-Way Pivot Arm and sets of Curved and Flat Adhesive Mounts also offer you a great range of options. Again, hugely versatile, you can use these super-strong adhesive based mounts practically anywhere, such as your helmet vehicle, bike or board.

Motorsports Edition

As I’m sure you have worked out, the GoPro HD Hero2 Motorsports Edition is primarily aimed at petrol-heads.

The key mount included here being the GoPro Suction Mount, ideal for most motorsport activities due to its proficiency in sticking just about anywhere on a vehicle.

Mount to your car windscreen for in car action, be it facing out front as you nail an overtake, or facing in-car as you wrestle the steering wheel with a Scandinavian flick.

The suction generated by the mount also means it’s great on the vehicles exterior, for example on the door, pointed towards the wheel arch for a slow-motion close up as you kiss the apex.

You’ll also get a J-hook buckle, an adjustable adhesive providing a great range of angles, for example on the front of a helmet, be it facing forward as you negotiate jumps, rapids or corners; or flipped back to face the wearer for priceless facial expressions.

And like the Outdoor Edition, you’ll get a Three-Way Pivot Arm and Flat and Curved Adhesive Mounts.

Surf Edition

Last up comes the GoPro HD Hero2 Surf Edition. If taking to the waves is your thing then, unsurprisingly, this is probably the pack for you.

This pack does more or less exactly what it says on the tin, with two GoPro Surfboard mounts, an FCS Compatible Camera mount and Floaty Backdoor all included.

Surf Bundle

The FCS Plug can be inserted into a centre fin socket on your board, and the Surfboard Mounts stick to your surfboard, wakeboard or kayak with incredible strength, so you won’t have to worry about your Hero2 washing away.

And even if this is a concern, you’re also provided with tethers to further secure your camera, and the GoPro Floaty Backdoor keeps your camera buoyant and bright, so you’ll always spot it on the surface.

Here at Action Cameras, we also offer a variety of speciality GoPro bundles such as the GoPro Production Bundle, 3D Hero Bundle and Scuba Pack.

And we also offer the Outdoor, Motorsports and Surf Editions with the exciting GoPro WiFi BacPac Remote Combo, connecting your Hero2 helmet camera to WiFi and letting you control up to 50 GoPro’s with one remote, and the potential to use your smart device as a screen. We’ll be detailing these bundles more thoroughly in the future, so stay tuned for that.

Hopefully by now you have more of an idea of which GoPro bundle is for you. Of course all the mounts and accessories are available individually, so you won’t be having sleepless nights over which you pick. But if you’re looking to get straight out the box and go, hopefully this has steered you in right direction.
