With Sony’s pending release of their first ‘Sony Action Cam’, the comparisons to existing helmet cameras will undoubtedly start to gather pace.

And given its success, quality and unrivalled global reputation within the industry, the GoPro HD Hero2 is likely to be the go-to marker.

The video below is one of the first such comparisons, pitching the Sony Action Cam HDR-AS15 against the GoPro Hero2 in a battle of their respective Time-Lapse modes.

Sony vs GoPro
Even from this short example video, the Sony Action Cam’s competence in colour vibrancy and sharpness is already apparent, certainly holding its own against its much lauded rival.

With similar interval settings in both the Sony and GoPro cameras, you can shoot 1080p time-lapses with the head-cams taking recurring photos to a set time, with interval options ranging from a photo every second to a photo every minute.

As the inevitable comparison train continues to gather pace, Action Cameras will keep you up to date and assist in deciding which camera is best suited for you.
