The POV1 Action Camera is a fully integrated point-of-view (POV) video system that's waterproof, dustproof and shock-resistant. The system includes a mountable camera head, built-in video recorder, wireless remote, mounts, 1Gb SD Card and software for managing your point-of-view videos.
The POV.1 can be used by every sports person and is perfect if you do a range of different sports as it can adapt to all different environments and has adaptable mounts included that allow you to mount the camera head to almost anything that you can think of. Since it is waterproofed you can take it kayaking in the summer and in winter you don't have to worry about snow getting into it. The recorder can be taken 1m underwater and the camera head can go down to 10m.
Filming is made very easy with the wireless remote which works up to 3 meters without line of sight. Once the camera is set up then the remote is all you need to operate it. The POV.1 was designed to work with a 1 or 2Gb SD card and this will respectively give you 42mins and 1hr24mins when recording at 720 x 480 which is the highest resolution and this is close to DVD quality.
Download the official VIO firmware upgrade under the Downloads section below to ensure you unit is compatible with 4Gb and 8Gb SD cards.
To download the footage from the POV.1 you can insert the SD card into your computer or simply connect the POV.1 directly to your computer with the supplied USB cable.
The ActionCameras Bottom Line:
Regardless if your budget high or low, if you are looking for DVD quality footage from a head cam then the POV.1 Action Camera is the ultimate choice for you. The mounts and other accessories included make this the only kit to come with everything that you need from opening the box, to filming and editing. This is the holy grail of helmet cameras.
* Full waterproofing allows you to use the POV.1 in any conditions from Kayaking to Snow Boarding.
* The Wireless Remote Control is a terrific advantage when compared to other cameras available on the market. This works with Infra-Red Technology so that it doesn't need "line-of-sight" to operate.
* A range of adaptable mounts for mounting the camera head to just about anything. There is a C-Clamp that holds the camera tightly in place and the clamp is attached to one of two mount attachments; the first is a base plate which has holes for Velcro strapping or cable ties, there are adhesive pads that you can use to stick it onto a flat surface, and there is also a 8mm thread so that it can be screwed onto any standard camera tripod or other mount with an 8mm thread. The second mount attachment is a handle bar mount that fits all standard sized bicycle and motorbike handlebars; this has also been mounted to the bars of hand gliders and the like.
* The POV.1 records onto SD card, a 1 or 2Gb will
respectively give you 42mins and 1hr24mins when recording at 720 x 480
which is the highest resolution and this is close to DVD quality. If
you would like to extend the recording time you can browse through the
menu and lower the resolution; at the lowest res you can record
15hrs44mins onto a 2Gb SD card. Action Cameras has
recently found 4Gb and 8Gb SD cards that are compatible with the POV so
now you can get much longer overall recording time.
* The video editing software included lets you cut, mix, set and upload videos very easily.
* The menu on the unit is very user friendly and allows you to customise the sound levels, the picture quality and all other settings very simply.
* For
downloading the footage from the POV.1 you have two options; you can
remove the SD card from the unit and load it into your PC or laptop or
simply use the supplied USB cable to download the footage to your
computer, Action Cameras find the later option easier. If you would
just like to review the footage you can use the supplied AV cable to
play it back straight onto your TV.
The POV.1 records in 2 modes, LOOP or CLIP. In LOOP mode, the user TAGs and saves key video segments. In CLIP mode, video is continuously recorded as in traditional video recording. Recording, playback and set-up are controlled by buttons on the POV.1 Recorder.
