GoPro 3D Hero System

Overview

The GoPro 3D Hero System allows you to combine two 1080p HD Hero cameras into a single housing to record 3D video and photos while simultaneously recording in 2D. A synchronization cable plugs into the rear port on both cameras to join them together, enabling both cameras to record video and photos in perfect synchronization. This produces professional quality 3D and is available only from GoPro.

The included 3D editing software - GoPro Cineform Studio - makes it easy to convert your 3D Hero System footage into viewable 3D files you can watch on your computer, online at sites like YouTube, and on your 2D or 3DTV at home.

Mounting System is compatible with all GoPro accessories / 3D waterproof housing is rated 180'/60m deep / Record 3D and 2D video and photo files simultaneously / Includes FREE easy-to-use 3D editing software - GoPro CineForm A firmware upgrade (v01.01.54 or higher) is required for your 1080p HD Hero cameras. Cameras are not included. The 3D Hero System is NOT compatible with the HD Hero 960 or standard definition cameras

The GoPro HD 3d HERO kit will be able to combine two of their current HD Hero cameras in one housing. Included in the 3D HERO Kit will be a synchronization cable meaning a full high definition 1080p 3D output can be achieved.

GoPro users will be able to take the two cameras apart which, for the 3D enthusiasts, means being able to adjust the distance between the lenses to film 3D shots of far away objects and landscapes.


"When they want to use the cameras independently, people can break the 3-D camera casing apart, and give one to their son; then they can shoot with the other one and it's fantastic. The value proposition is great -- they don't have to bet the farm on just a 3-D camera," Nicholas Woodman, Chief Executive Officer, says.

The flexibility, quality and price and the fact that there are only a few 3D cameras available in the UK, means the GoPro 3D expansion kit could be  a very interesting product for those interested in having a 3D action camera.
